Waking Life follows the dream(s) of one man and his attempt to find and discern the absolute difference between waking life and the dreamworld. While trying to figure out a way to wake up, he runs into many people on his way; some of which offer one sentence asides on life, others delving deeply into existential questions and life's mysteries. We become the main character. It becomes our dream and our questions being asked and answered. Can we control our dreams? What are they telling us about life? About death? About ourselves and where we come from and where we are going? The film does not answer all these for us. Instead, it inspires us to ask the questions and find the answers ourselves.

(cz) Příběh muže, který se usilovně snaží odlišit sny od skutečnosti. Při toulkách světem každý, s nímž se setkal, chtěl diskutovat o smyslu života a on někdy odpovídal, jindy jen naslouchal lidem, kteří pohlíželi na život z nejrůznějších úhlů sociologického, náboženského, vědeckého, uměleckého. Je přesto možné, že se mu všichni snažili sdělit to samé? Pozorujeme svět skutečnosti a fantazie očima tohoto poutníka, aniž bychom si i my byli jistí, kde leží hranice, jež tyto dva světy odděluje. Experimentální zpracování, doplněné zajímavými animačními postupy, dělá z tohoto snímku podivuhodnou a jedinečnou tvůrčí vizi.

(cz) Nepříjemně naturalistický dokument z pařížských jatek demonstruje zvíře jako zdroj masa a řezníky naopak jako pány nad životem a smrtí domestikovaných zvířat. Georges Franju s mamutí dávkou sarkasmu obnovuje metaforu lidských jatek – koncentračních táborů a dává citelný prostor vizuálnímu zážitku (jatka x zbídačelé předměstí). Koně, krávy, telata i ovce v briskním tempu umírají často natolik brutálním způsobem před kterým i zarputilý masožrout minimálně přivře víčka.

(cz) Oxfordský profesor Richard Dawkins jednoduchými dôkazmi vysvetľuje, prečo je náboženstvo koreňom všetkého zla na Zemi. Zaoberá sa otázkami existencie Boha, jeho vysvetlenie podľa Biblie ako krotovládcu a rasistu, rozoberie niektoré obzvlášť hrozné časti z Biblie. Bolo krásne ukázané, ako či kresťania, alebo iné náboženstvá, vôbec neprímajú inú pravdu a útočia na režisérsky štáb slovne (Moslimovia), alebo ich jednoducho vyženú (kresťania). Pritom odmietajú také základné poznania ako evolúciu a vznik sveta, až nenormálne extrémistickým spôsobom. Film tiež zobrazuje moslimskú výchovu, kde im od začiatku hustia náboženstvo, alebo zločiny spáchané podľa toho, že to tak bolo v biblii napísané. Pritom sa všetko snaží pán Dawkins vysvetliť logicky, ale pri niektorých náboženských fanatikoch veľa šťastia mať nebude. Perfektný dokument.

Jacksona, který se dostal do kriminálu v osmnácti letech za krádež 70 dolarů, a z vězení už nevyšel. Za mřížemi vystudoval, začal se bít o práva vězňů a jeho zásluhou se rozjelo nejmilitantnější hnutí za lidská práva v dějinách USA. Jackson přetavil svůj vztek do filosofie, která z obyčejného zloděje udělala politického mučedníka. Nikdo nerozumí jeho nářkům a náladám - kromě dvanáctiletého chlapce, který až moc dobře ví, co to znamená žít bez rodiny. Zachraňte Willyho je milý a dojemný příběh přátelství chlapce a velryby. Když se chlapec dozví, jaký nešťastný osud jeho přítele čeká, vymyslí vlastní plán a svede boj s časem, aby Willyho vrátil do jeho přirozeného domova. Kritika označila tento film za velice přesvědčivý druh zábavy a filmové obecenstvo se všude tam, kde se promítal, zamilovalo do jeho hlavního hrdiny, nevšední třítunové kosatky.

The first half of the film contains footage of everyday life in the houses and presents responses to the question “why do you squat?” by fourteen residents. The second half of the film focuses on internal arguments over the use of barricades against imminent police assault and documentation of the assault itself (including commercial news footage) and community response.

(en) Based on an actual strike against the Empire Zinc Mine in New Mexico, the film deals with the prejudice against the Mexican-American workers, who struck to attain wage parity with Anglo workers in other mines and to be treated with dignity by the bosses. The film is an early treatment of feminism, because the wives of the miners play a pivotal role in the strike, against their husbands wishes. In the end, the greatest victory for the workers and their families is the realization that prejudice and poor treatment are conditions that are not always imposed by outside forces. This film was written, directed and produced by members of the original "Hollywood Ten," who were blacklisted for refusing to answer Congressional inquiries on First Amendment grounds.

(cz) Americký film „Sůl země" byl natočen podle skutečné události stávky horníků zinkových dolů v oblasti Bayard v Novém Mexiku (USA) v r. 1951. Film vypráví o průběhu patnáctiměsíční stávky, která skončila po houževnatém boji horníků i jejich žen vítězně. Film byl po prvé uveden mimo území USA na VIII. mezinárodním filmovém festivalu v Karlových Varech v r. 1954, kde získal (společně se sovětským filmem „Věrní přátelé") Velkou cenu. Herečce Rosauře Revueltas, jedné z hlavních hrdinek filmu, byla za životnou, se strhující pravdivostí a prostotou ztvárněnou postavu mexické hornické ženy i za její neohrožený postoj vůči nepřízni oficiálních kruhů při natáčení tohoto filmu, udělena Cena za ženský herecký výkon.

Čo sa stane, ak sa pretne osud zachmúreného mladíka, ktorý trávi väčšinu času na cudzích pohreboch a vitálnej osemdesiatničky? Harold je dvadsaťročný mladík posadnutý myšlienkami na smrť. Maude je sedemdesiatdeväťročná starenka posadnutá chuťou do života. Títo dvaja outsideri nemajú na prvý pohľad nič spoločné, no napriek tomu môžu práve oni dvaja tvoriť ideálny pár. Harold žije so svojou dominantnou matkou v bohatstve. Márne sa snaží upútať na seba jej pozornosť nekonečnými a vždy neúspešnými pokusmi o samovraždu. Pre matku to znamená len toľko, že by pre svojho depresívneho syna mala nájsť priateľku, ktorá by ho vyliečila z chmúrnych myšlienok. Žiadna z nádejných neviest však nedokáže prežrieť Haroldovo samovražedné hobby. A tak je opäť odkázaný na samotu. Je vášnivým návštevníkom pohrebov, pretože práve na cintoríne je najbližšie k smrti. Čiperná Maude tiež rada chodí na pohreby, ale z úplne iných dôvodov. Keď sa jedného dňa stretnú nad cudzou rakvou, vytvoria svojrázny romantický pár, ktorý sa bláznivými nápadmi a neskrývanou slobodou vysmieva všetkým autoritám a predsudkom o živote, smrti, mladosti, star obe i sexe. Dnes už kultový film režiséra Hala Ashbyho vyvolal v čase svojho vzniku vlnu odporu tak zo strany konzervatívnej kritiky, ako aj mladých rebelov. Originálny humor a láskavé posolstvo tohto príbehu o láske a smrti našlo odozvu až oveľa neskôr a dnes patrí k najobľúbenejším filmom Nového Hollywoodu. Atmosféru filmu dokresľujú piesne Cata Stevensa.

Starting his own organization, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, he went on to sink illegal whaling ships, stopped Canadian seal hunts for ten years, permanently halted sealing in British Isles, killing of dolphins on Iki Island, Japan, etc. This documentary witnesses his latest campaigns and explores the personal and environmental history of this controversial marine conservationist.

(cz) Drama o Anglii v 80. letech 20. století. Táta dvanáctiletého Shauna padl ve válce o Falklandy a Shaun teď naléhavě potřebuje mužský vzor i zastání. Zdá se, že je nachází v partě o něco starších místních skinheads. Situace se však komplikuje, když se do party vrátí propuštěný vězeň Combo - ten nebere skinheads jako životní styl a subkulturu, ale jako příležitost prosazovat své rasistické názory a ventilovat svou chorobnou agresivitu. Původní parta se rozpadá a Shaun prožívá deziluzi, která vede k jeho předčasnému dospění.
