A group of 'encapuchados' attack the precinct of the plainclothes investigative police (PDI) outside of the Unversidad Academia de Humanismo Cristiano (UAHC) campus in Santiago. Reports are coming in that at least two people have been arrested in connection with the attack.

Chilean police authorities continue to track down the estimated 50 hooded protesters who mobbed a Providencia police building Wednesday afternoon, leaving one detective injured and prompting a major university to close its doors. As of early Thursday morning, police had captured two suspects. The attack on the Homicidal Brigade of the Investigations Police (PDI) - Chile’s plainclothes detective force – was apparently launched in protest of the upcoming Sept. 11, 1973 coup anniversary that ousted President Salvador Allende. During the 10-minute attack, college-aged protestors tossed Molotov bombs, rocks and cans through the building’s windows and at police officers who tried to stop them.

Violent public outbreaks are commonplace around Sept. 11 in Chile, but protestors struck days earlier than expected this year, angered by recent clashes between police and Chile’s Mapuche population, the nation’s largest indigenous group, in Region IX.
"No more deaths will be accepted, all will be avenged," read a banner that mobbers waved, alluding to the controversial police shooting of 24-year-old Mapuche activist Jaime Mendoza Collío, who died Aug. 12 from a bullet would to the back (ST, Aug. 25 ).
Signs bore the names of Collío and anarchist Mauricio Morales Duarte, who was killed in May when a bomb he carried in his backpack exploded.
From a communique written by participants in the action:
“At the beginning of our demonstration a detective from the Homicide Brigade proceeded to attack one of our comrades, we beat him back. Because of this the rest of the detectives came out to defend him using their arms against ours. With automatic rifles, pistols, revolvers, sub machine guns and shields they tried to disperse us, but our revolutionary conviction and our rage, which make us realize that we are fighting for our people and in memory of those who have fallen in the struggle, was stronger than their weapons.
… The PDI has characterized itself by its oppressive character as we have seen in Wall Mapu, where together with Carabineros and the army they have militarized the zone and developed a counterinsurgency to destroy the Mapuche struggle…
With rocks, Molotov cocktails, and paint bombs we confronted the bullets of the PDI, and forced them to stay locked up inside of their station…”

His music is most accurately described as protest-folk and concerns topical subjects such as the 2003 Iraq war, anti-globalisation and social justice issues. Rovics is an outspoken critic of not only George W. Bush, but also figures like John Kerry and the Democratic Party as a whole. He is vocal on these subjects on stage, radio shows and in press releases.
Although Rovics is not strongly associated with any particular political or ideological movement, his lyrics and recorded interviews encompass a wide range of left-wing, humanitarian interests. He has suggested a commonality or synthesis between these varied ideologies in several of his radio interviews, and cites his music as a means to disseminate these ideas. His provocative and catchy lyrics bring to mind a modern-day Woody Guthrie or Phil Ochs.

Those were the first words I ever heard Derrick Jensen speak, and my world view has never been the same since. The year was 2006 and I had just moved to New York City to work for Democracy Now!. I was taping the Community Solutions conference, a peak oil convention held at Cooper Union. Unlike the other speakers, Derrick did not talk about about solar panels or wind turbines. He spoke of our culture’s systematic destruction of the planet and of the failure of the environmental movement. After hearing his talk, I immediately sought out his books and the first seeds of END:CIV were planted.
The “Star Wars” piece is one of Derrick’s best analogies, one that delivers a precise critique of mainstream environmental groups.

Poprvé se na světlo světa dostal v Bělorusku v roce 1944, když byli místní lidé svědky ohromujícího, téměř surrealistického obrazu: více než 1200 lidí vyšlo z hlubokých a neobydlených běloruských lesů. Příběh se začal skládat dohromady díky vzpomínkám a vyprávění, které si lidé mezi sebou šeptali. Bratři Tuvio (Daniel Craig), Zuse (Liev Schreiber) a Asael Bielski (Jamie Bell) vyrůstali ve farmářské rodině v Bělorusku, které v té době bylo součástí Sovětského svazu. Charismatičtí bratři byli známí jako rváči a rebelové s odporem k autoritám. Když v červnu 1941 nacisté obsadili jejich kraj, byli rychle označeni za vyvolávače nepokojů a sledováni příslušníky SS i místní policií. Brzy se událo několik zdrcujících tragédií. Rodiče a další členové jejich rodiny byli hromadně s dalšími 4000 Židy popraveni. Aby zachránili holé životy, utekli bratři do hlubokých a rozlehlých lesů, které od dětství velmi dobře znali. Tam sestavili partyzánskou skupinu. To, co začalo jako bitva o přežití a touha po pomstě, přerostlo v odhodlání zachránit co největší počet Židů. Pod vedením Tuvii se mise stala úspěšnější, než si kdo kdy dokázal představit. Pro milióny lidí znamenal příchod nacistů nezvratitelný rozsudek smrti. Ale pro židovské bratry Bielské se to stalo voláním “vzhůru do zbraně”, zkouškou testující jejich bratrství, odvahu a vůli bojovat proti zlu kolem sebe. Jejich odhodlání přivedlo tisíce dalších do zoufalé bitvy za přežití. Bratři se odvážili vracet do ghett a pomáhali utéci uvězněným Židům, kteří tam čekali na deportaci a následnou smrt v koncentračních táborech. Po měsících neustálého přesouvání se jim konečně podařilo v lesích založit osadu. Žili v podzemních chatrčích, tzv. zemljankách, postavili si nemocnici, mlýn, pekárnu, lázně a dokonce divadlo a synagogu. Uprostřed okolního hororu vyrostlo místo plné života, které jeho obyvatelé pojmenovali “Jeruzalém v lesích”.

These words from Michael Muhammad Knight, an American Muslim and unofficial founder of the Taqwacore music scene, spell out the alienated, courageous autonomy of punk culture in bright colours. Knight is the focal point of Omar Majeed's explosive doc; the other subjects are a handful of American Muslim musicians who've been galvanized by Knight's book The Taqwacores. Caught in a tug of war between Western corporate permissiveness and a religion that's become hardened and constricting, these kids decide to grab guitars and change their reality. "In the so-called War of Civilizations, we're pointing the middle finger in both directions," says Knight near the beginning of the film. What follows certainly bears him out: 80 minutes of gleeful taboo-smashing, poignant soul-searching and loud, furious music.
If the Islamic punk scene grows into something major (and on the evidence of this movie, it likely will), Majeed and Knight will surely go down in history as its first big proponents and chroniclers. Catch it now and you can say that you were one of the first to be in on something really big.

Call to Action - Resist the G-20!
September 22-25, Pittsburgh, PA, USA
Leaders of 20 of the most powerful governments in the world, representing 19 countries and the European Union, are descending upon Pittsburgh in late September. We, concerned residents of Pittsburgh, are asking for individuals and organizations that are seeking a better world to come and show their opposition to these undemocratic, closed meetings. Our future belongs to us, not to our governments!
We are asking you to join us from September 22 through September 25. We are calling for a diversity of actions throughout the week, and we hope that you can join us for some or all of these actions, as you are able.
On Tuesday, September 22, neighborhoods in Pittsburgh will be having community picnics, where long-time residents, short-time residents, and the early-bird protesters can share a meal and talk about the better world that they want to live in. The G-20 tries to present itself as leaders getting together, but whenever they meet it seems to cost millions and involve police hitting people over the head with batons. Let's show them how a real civil gathering works: good people, good food, good times. Locals in the East End have already confirmed an Anti-G-20 Community Gathering in Friendship Park from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Besides food, music and conversation, Rustbelt Radio, a project of Pittsburgh Indymedia, will be on hand collecting stories for its G-Infinity Media Project. The live, streaming audio project is a non-corporate, participatory media forum for the voices of the people who will not be in the room during the summit, who are affected by the G-20 economic policies but whose stories go largely untold.
Wednesday night, September 23, at 7:00 pm, there will be a spokescouncil meeting for information sharing and coordination at our convergence space, located at 4374 Murray Ave. The spokescouncil is a place for affinity groups to share decisions that they have made and identify things that they need to do and decisions that they need to make. If you are planning on attending, PLEASE READ this page on the spokescouncil format.
Thursday, September 24, will feature a People's Uprising, a mass march to disrupt the G-20 summit. We'll be starting at Arsenal Park at 2:30 pm in Lawrenceville, a vibrant working class community in the city, and marching to the G-20 summit downtown. Our theme is "Power from Below, Not Impositions from Above." Our only permit is our feet and voices. The G-20 is in the house, throwing a party. Let's crash it.
Friday, September 25, we'll be working to undermine the G-20 summit by attacking their power, making connections to the local manifestations of their neoliberal agenda. The folks that gather in the convention center represent large governments that draw their power from collusion with powerful corporations, governments that draw their wealth from resource extraction and destruction to our world, and governments that maintain their forces through the direct violence of police forces and militaries. Without these structural supports, their power will disintegrate. The G-20 is in a house of cards: let's shake the table.
The action working group of the Pittsburgh G-20 Resistance Project has drawn up a list of 100 potential targets, and many groups will be claiming a destination somewhere in the city. We call for these coordinated actions to end at 11:30 am in which we will demonstrate: we do not need to be together physically to be together in struggle.
We encourage people to form affinity groups with those that they know and trust, to have a familiar faces to stick with in the streets and people to organize and take action with. An affinity group is when you get together with folks who are on the same page as you about what kind of action you want to do. Maybe they're your friends from work or school, maybe they're your marching band mates. What each group’s action will be on Friday is up to that person or affinity group. We ask that each affinity group send one member of that group to our spokescouncil on Wednesday night to share information, coordinate and to pick a focus for Friday, if one is not already chosen.
After the actions end at 11:30 am, there will be an anti-authoritarian contingent in the Thomas Merton Center Anti-War Committee's state-sanctioned People's March to the summit site. This contingent will adhere to the Pittsburgh Principles, respecting the tone and tactics of the march organizers.
We are working hard with many groups and individuals in order to ensure there is a solid foundation for all of these actions to be a success. We ask those who are able to contribute more than their bodies – those who are interested in helping to provide legal support, scouting, staffing the convergence center, medical support, food, housing, etc. — to do what they can to help the resistance. If you see a need that you can fill, fill it. You don't need our permission, nor should you be asking for it, to resist. If you're not exactly sure how to do that but want to try, get in touch.

This film follows the exploits of Watson and the crew of two of Sea Shepherd's vessels, as they sails thousands of miles across the North Pacific to confront the drift-netting fleets of Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. The voyage culminates in a dramatic dawn attack on Japanese driftnetters and bring the armed intervention of US Coastguard cutters and patrol aircraft. Watson is rightly proud that, in all their actions, no-one has ever been injured. But can he justify putting fishermen and whalers out of work? (en) In December 2008, we created an anti-fascist mural in Bochum, to commemorate those seven anti-fascists from different european countries, who had been killed by neo-nazis during the last years.
After we photographed the whole process of production, we brought those and several other materials together and made a documentary of it, about the mural and the background of the seven murdered antifas. Beside we traveled to italy and spain to make interviews with relatives of the murdered antifas. Furthermore, we produced a rap for Thomas Schulz, who got killed in our neighbor town Dortmund in 2005.
The title of the movie is „uno di noi“ - „one of us“.
During the last months we organized public viewings all over the republic, to call the viewers for a direct discussion about the issues
of the movie.
Now we made a blog for you, where you will find the movie to view, and several texts and photo collections, and, of course, you have the chance to give some feedback on the issue.
Friends of us have translated the movie into castilian, italian, english, french and russian, though you can view the film in your
suitable language.
We want to advertise this website in anti-fascist and left-wing networks as far as we can.
The guestbook on this website is intended to have some space for an international and multi-lingual exchange and discussion.
For all of us, for every anti-fascist from Irkusk, from the Lower East Side, Athens, the banlieu of Paris, Bilbao, Utrecht, Herne II, Padua or Belfast – this internationally drawn up mural gives us the possibility to get into duscussion concerning the problems of our time. And eventually to get in contact and to make up new networks.
The intention of our movie is, to show up our needs and chances for discussion, connection, cooperation and integration.
The movie ought to call for solidarity and to spread solidarity at the same time.

(sk) V decembri 2008 vzniklo v Bochume (Nemecko) graffiti ako spomienka na sedem zavraždených antifašistov. Graffiti vytvorila miestna antifašistická skupina Azzoncao a AJB.
..V decembri 2008 sme vytvorili antifašistický mural v Bochume, aby sme si pripomenuli siedmych antifašistov, ktorí boli zavraždení neonacistami počas posledných rokov.
Potom čo sme natočili celý proces produkcie muralu, dali sme dokopy tento materiál aj iný a vytvorili sme z toho dokumentárny film o tomto graffiti a o tých siedmych zabitých antifašistoch. Okrem toho sme vycestovali do talianska a španielska, aby sme urobili rozhovor so známymi zavraždených antifas. Ďalej sme spravili rapovú pesničku pre Thomasa Schulza, ktorý bol zabitý v našom susednom meste Dortmund v roku 2005.
