Meanwhile, a Journalist (played by Gould) is getting suspicious and every clue he uncovers seems to result in an attempt on his life! The astronauts are just about to splashdown when a further twist to the tale occurs, leaving them with no choice but to try and escape...

(en) Jock Palfreeman is a 23-year-old Australian currently in prison in Sofia, Bulgaria. He has been charged with premeditated murder and attempted murder with antisocial intent, following a conflict with a group of 16 men.
In December 2007, Jock witnessed the group attacking two men of Roma ethnicity (“gypsies”) in Sofia. Jock went to the aid of the Roma men, putting himself in the middle of the attack. The Roma men were able to escape, but the gang continued their vicious attack on Jock. Following the fight, one member of the gang was killed (Andrey Monov) and another injured (Antoan Zahariev). Jock maintains that he tried to escape the violent gang, and was forced to act in self-defense.
Jock was refused bail, and has spent almost two years in Sofia Central Prison. On Wednesday, 2nd December 2009, Jock gave his final plea to the court, and was subsequently found to be guilty of both charges. He was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment with civil fines of 450,000 Bulgarian Leva (about 375,000 AUD).
At freejock.net, we maintain that Jock acted in self-defense, and strongly believe he should be returned to his family and friends in Australia. The purpose of this website is to be an accurate information resource for those interested in his case, and to provide a means for his supporters to unite and support this young man through his ordeal.

Před dvěmi lety se byl Jock Palfreeman, tehdy jednadvacetiletý Australan žijící několik měsíců na bulharském venkově, pobavit s přáteli v Sofii. Když se v jednu v noci vraceli z baru, narazili na skupinu asi dvaceti fotbalových chuligánů Levski FC, kteří před jejich očima brutálně napadli dva Romy. Jock Palfreeman se jich slovně i fyzicky zastal a ocitl se tak přímo v centru konfliktu.
Napadeným se podařilo utéct, agresivita rasistů (není bez zajímavosti, že podle bulharských antifašistů a antifašistek patří chuligáni Levski FC z drtivé většiny k neonacistům nebo jejich silným stoupencům) se ale obrátila proti Jockovi. Ten na svou obranu vytáhl nůž, rasisté útočili kusy betonu. Jock během rvačky jednoho z útočníku smrtelně zranil, druhého pobodal.
Otec zabitého chuligána Levski FC Andreje Monova je známou, veřejně činnou osobou a zastává významný post na Ministerstvu vnitra. Na pohřbu mu kondolovali významní politici a vysoce postavení policisté; vedle nich se pohřbu zúčastnili stovky neonacistů. Krajní pravice z incidentu udělala „svůj" případ, který obalila nenávistnou propagandou proti cizincům.
Jock byl po incidentu byl zatčen a vzat do vazby, kde strávil dva roky. 2.prosince byl v Sofii odsouzen ke dvaceti letům vězení za úkladnou vraždu a pokus o vraždu s antisociálním motivem. Jeho přátelé a rodiče mluví o zmanipulovaném procesu, připomínají záhadnou ztrátu záznamů z bezpečnostních kamer zabírajících místo incidentu a mizení klíčových svědků.
Je nutno vyjasnit, že Jock nepatřil a nepatří k žádné politické ani radikálně antifašistické skupině či organizace. I jeho bulharští přátelé ale vzpomínají, že vždy zastával striktně antirasistické postoje. Ve své závěrečné řeči před soudem řekl mimo jiné toto:
„Nejde jen o pohrdání spravedlností a mým právem na spravedlivý a nestranný proces, ale také o signál fotbalovým chuligánům, že mají zelenou k dalším útokům na bezúhonné členy a členky společnosti, zvláště pak na rasové menšiny, které jsou pro tyto skupiny hlavním cílem jak v Bulharsku, tak v EU a na celém světě."

(en) Jake Barnes and his two kids, Sean and Jessie, have moved to Alaska after his wife died. He is a former airline pilot now delivering toilet paper across the mountains. During an emergency delivery in a storm his plane goes down somewhere in the mountains. Annoyed that the authorities aren't doing enough, Jessie and Sean set out on an adventure to find their father with the help of a polar bear which they have saved from a ferocious poacher (Charlton Heston). Conflict ensues.

The region of Las Hurdes, not far from Salamanca, is largely cut off from the rest of the world. To reach Las Hurdes, it is necessary to travel through the town of La Alberca, which itself has some unusual sights and customs. The Hurdanos themselves live in several dozen villages in the nearby mountains, near a valley that contains the ruins of a convent. The lifestyle of the Hurdanos is so primitive that, until fairly recently, even bread was unknown to them.

Ich životný štýl je primitívny, všetci sú si vlastne príbuzní, žijú v chudobe, chorobe a biede, dokonca mnohí ani chlieb nepoznajú...
Bunuelův dokument ze španělské vesnice před občanskou válkou Země bez chleba. Film natočil ve spolupráci s lidmi z CNT a je jedním z nejlepších sociálně kritických snímků třicátých let. Bunuel byl členem surrealistické internacionály a politicky se řadil k jejímu proanarchistickému křídlu. Sociální kritika (spolu s nadměrnou dávkou černého humoru) je v nějaké míře přítomná ve všech jeho filmech - nejlepší jsou asi Nenápadný půvab buržoazie, Mléčná dráha a Nazarin.

(en) In Mexico City, a wealthy compound is surrounded by walls and surveillance system to protect the locals against the violence of the slums. During a stormy night, a billboard falls over the wall and three smalltime thieves cross the border through the breach to rob. They break into a house and kill an old lady; the residents organize militias to chase the delinquents. Two of them and one security guard are murdered by the vigilantes, but the sixteen year old Miguel hides in the basement of the teenager Alejandro. When Alejandro finds Miguel, he feeds and helps the boy, but it is impossible to escape from the Zone.

V Mexico City žijí lidé odděleně podle sociálních skupin. Mezi čtvrtěmi pro bohaté a chudé jsou zdi s kamerovými systémy pomocí kterých se bohatí snaží bránit nájezdům zlodějů ze slumů. Jedné bouřlivé noci strhne vítr billboard, který jednu takovou zeď prorazí. Dírou se protáhnou tři lupiči, kteří při vloupání do domu nešťastnou náhodou zabijí starou ženu. Obyvatelé čtvrti na ně okamžitě začnou pořádat hon. Dva lupiči jsou zastřeleni, ale šestnáctiletému Miguelovi se podaří schovat ve sklepě. Tam jej najde Alejandro a poskytne mu jídlo a další pomoc. Miguel by se rád vrátil do své čtvrti, ale dostat se ven z ostře hlídané zóny není jednoduché.

Filmmaker Zack Winestine rode the entire trip with the caravan, filming from his bicycle as events unfolded. No Olympics on Stolen Land
BC remains largely unceded and non-surrendered Indigenous territories. According to Canadian law, BC has neither the legal nor moral right to exist, let alone claim land and govern over Native peoples. Despite this, and a fraudulent treaty process now underway, the government continues to sell, lease and develop Native land for the benefit of corporations, including mining, logging, oil & gas, and ski resorts. Meanwhile, Indigenous peoples suffer the highest rates of poverty, unemployment, imprisonment, police violence, disease, suicides, etc.
Ecological Destruction
Despite claims to be the greenest Olympics ever, and PR statements about sustainability, the 2010 Olympics will be among the most environmentally destructive in history, with tens of thousands of trees cut down & mountainsides blasted for Olympic venues in the Callaghan Valley (near Whistler) & the Sea-to-Sky Highway expansion. In the summer of 2007, a record number of black bears were hit on the Sea-to-Sky Highway, with at least 11 dying (attributed to loss of habitat). Massive amounts of concrete used in construction have also caused millions of Salmon to die in the Fraser River, where tons of gravel are being mined to make concrete.

Eco-prisoner Jeff "Free" Luers released from prison
Dear Friends,
This morning in Portland, Oregon, Jeff walked out of prison a free man.
Luers' release today comes after what Oregon Department of Corrections described as a 'mistake' when they released him early on October 20th this year. After a few short hours of freedom, Luers was taken back into custody in Eugene after the State agency reversed its decision and determined that he did not qualify under the new House Bill 3508 for an additional 10% reduction in sentence. DOC's gross incompetence in this situation, and the emotional toll borne by his family and loved ones, is just one of many examples of the distressing levels of bureaucratic impropriety that Luers has endured during his years behind bars.
Upon his release this morning, Mr. Luers stated:
"The last 9½ years have been difficult at best. I have witnessed things in prison that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I have endured hardship and loss. Without a doubt, this experience has changed me. What hasn't changed is my commitment to environmental and social justice."
"I would like to thank all the people who have supported me through the years; especially the dedicated few who worked tirelessly to get me out of prison. I look forward to spending time with my loved ones and continuing my education, as well as continuing my activism."
During his time in prison, seven of which were served in maximum security, Luers has maintained his activism by writing about environmental and social justice issues. In particular, he has continued to bring attention to the specter of human- induced climate change, the cause that motivated Luers to set fire to three SUV's in 2000. Since his original sentencing, awareness of climate change has become omnipresent. It seems ironic that Luers has been released during the Copenhagen Climate Summit where world leaders are converging around the need for extreme action to be taken on global carbon emissions.

In June 2001, 23 year-old forest defense activist Jeffrey "Free" Luers was sentenced to 22 years and 8 months in prison for the burning of three Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV's) in Eugene, Oregon. In an attempt to make a statement about global warming, Jeff and his codefendent, Craig 'Critter' Marshall, set fire to 3 SUV's at a Eugene car dealership causing minor property damage. Their stated purpose was to raise awareness about global warming and the role that SUV's play in that process. No one was hurt in this action nor was that the intent. An arson specialist at trial confirmed that the action did not pose any threat to people based on its size and distance from any fuel source. Despite the fact that this action hurt no one, caused only $40,000 in damages and the cars were later resold, Jeff was sent to prison for a sentence considerably longer than those convicted of murder, kidnapping and rape in Oregon and around the country. Amnesty International declared Luers a political prisoner based upon the egregious disparity in his sentence.
Jeff's appeal was filed in January 2002 and oral arguments before the Oregon Court of Appeals were heard on November 30, 2005. Over a year later, on February 14, 2007 the Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that Jeff's case should be reversed and remanded back to the Circuit Court for resentencing. A year after their decision, a resentencing hearing finally took place on February 28, 2008 in Lane County Circuit Court which reduced Jeff's sentence to 10 years.
On October 1, 2009, the Court signed a supplemental judgment granting Jeff an additional 10% reduction in his total incarceration time, and he was released the next day. Six hours later the prison outrageously took him back into custody due to a "mistake".

PORTLAND, USA - Dec 16th, 2009 - Jeff "Free" Luers, politický väzeň a environmentálny aktivista, bol prepustený z väzenia "Columbia River Correctional Institution" toto ráno potom, čo si odsedel 9 rokov a 6 mesiacov. Luersa pôvodne odsúdili v roku 2001 na 22 rokov a 8 mesiacov za politicky motivovaný požiar troch áut na parkovisku predajne áut v americkom meste Eugene, štáte Oregon. Tento rozsudok bol považovaný na hrubo neprimeraný škodám v dotknutej predajni áut a bol zavrhnutý právnikmi, skupinami na ochranu ľudských práv a aktivistami po celom svete. Na súdnom procese v roku 2007 vychádzajúceho z odvolania bolo rozhodnuté, že pôvodný rozsudok bol nelegálny a následne Jeffovi znížili trest na 10 rokov.
Po jeho prepustení dnes ráno, Jeffrey vyhlásil:"Posledné 9½ roka boli prinajmenšom zložité. Vo väzení som bol svedkom udalostí, ktoré so sebou budem niesť po celý zvyšok svojho života. Počas jeho pobytu vo väzení, z ktorého sedem rokov strávil pod maximálnym dohľadom, Luers pokračoval vo svojom aktivizme písaním o veciach sociálnej a environmentálnej spravodlivosti. A predovšetkým, ďalej prinášal pozornosť na hrozbu ľuďmi zapríčineného globálneho otepľovania, alebo zmeny klímy, vec, ktorá pôvodne motivovala Luersa, aby zapálil tri autá SUV v roku 2000. Od jeho pôvodného rozsudku, povedomie o zmenách klímy sa stalo všadeprítomným. Zdá sa byť ironické, že Luers bol prepustený práve počas Klimatického summitu v Kodani, kde sa stretli svetoví lídri, diskutujúci o potrebe extrémnej akcie, ktorú treba podniknúť na zníženie emisií uhlíka celosvetovo.

We want a tea/cafe place. Because everyone has to drink tea and cheaply. A variety of tea can be found somewhere, hope. By working collectively are trying to manage something. We've made our own washbasin .

(sk) - zo stránky waf-kolektiv.tk - Asi pred polrokom som sa dozvedel o krásnom dokumentárnom filme s názvom "First Earth! Uncompromising Ecological Architecture", čiže "Najskôr zem! Nekompromisná ekologická architektúra". Keďže sa dal pozrieť na YouTube kanáli režiséra tohto filmu, s nadšením som si ho vychutnal a okamžite ma presvedčil, aby som tento film preložil a začal šíriť aj v našich končinách. Tak som sa spojil s jeho režisérom Davidom Sheenom, ktorý mi následne poslal DVD. Dohodli sme sa... a tak som pripravil anglické titulky a preložil som film aj do slovenčiny. Koncom decembra sa bude dať DVD (slovenská verzia) zohnať aj v distre WAFPRESS. Part 3.
The third and final episode of Racism: A History examines the impact of racism in the 20th Century. By 1900, European colonial expansion had reached deep into the heart of Africa. Under the rule of King Leopold II, The Belgian Congo was turned into a vast rubber plantation. Men, women and children who failed to gather their latex quotas would have their limbs dismembered. The country became the scene of one of the century’s greatest racial genocides, as an estimated 10 million Africans perished under colonial rule. Contains scenes which some viewers may find disturbing.
